Right before the 30th day of Ramadan, the Committee responsible for sighting the moon meets to take a look at the new crescent moon. If they confirm the sighting, the following day is then marked as Eid al-Fitr, the festival of breaking the fast.
Things to Consider
In view of the Covid-19 outbreak, there are some slight changes, since most of the people are now required to stay at home, which is necessary to stop the spread of the virus. Nevertheless, there are certain exceptions and this includes the likes of children, elderly and sick, as well as pregnant women.
Owing to the restrictions imposed, schools, malls, mosques, and even restaurants are to remain closed until further notice. This is why; you may not have a lot of things to do outdoors during Ramadan in Dubai.
When it comes to working hours, there is a lot of clarity. As per the UAE Labour Law, it clearly stipulates that working hours should be reduced by two hours per day during Ramadan, irrespective of whether you are fasting or not. However, working hours for both private and public sectors are bound to differ and vary.
Most important of all, you must remember that in Dubai you currently need to apply for a permit to leave your home for essential reasons only.
